From the outside, my life looked fine. Accomplishments piled up, creating a façade of success. People saw the achievements, the smiles, and the forward momentum. But accomplishments are silent observers. They don't see the woman behind the curtain. They don't see the heavy, suffocating feeling of being stuck. For a long time, I carried that weight in silence, convinced that no one would understand. How could they? They were only looking at the surface, celebrating the wins while the internal struggles went unacknowledged. This silent suffering the pressure to maintain appearances while internally crumbling is the weight of a silent tear. It’s the emotion you swallow, the truth you hide, and the pain you convince yourself you must endure alone. Everyone carries a different silent tear. Yours could be from a heartbreak, exhaustion, unnamed wounds, or just anger. Yet the weight is the same. heavy enough to bend a back, quiet enough to hide behind a smile.
The Moment Everything Shifted
The turning point wasn't a grand public declaration. It was quiet, private, and raw. I was standing in front of my bathroom mirror, looking past the reflection of the somewhat accomplished woman and truly seeing the exhausted one beneath. In that moment of absolute stillness, I spoke to my reflection with a clarity I had not felt in years: "This can’t be all there is." I knew I had to do something about it. That moment of radical self-honesty sparked a fire. It made me realize that my silence was not protecting anyone; it was isolating me, and likely isolating thousands of other women just like me.
